Worship Together

Here is a blog post I wrote about an adventure I am currently on (I’ve also posted it below)!! Happy reading! 🤗

Every 4th Sunday of each month we combine our worship service with The Hope Center Church of God of Prophecy. We’ve been worshipping together since October 2017… and we absolutely love our services together! We have also combined our Wednesday night Growth Groups (aka small group). Those who have joined us on Wednesday’s have connected on a deeper, personal level and have also experienced a genuine transparency between cultures.

Our churches are located 0.9 miles from one another and have remained separate in the same community for 20+ years. The culture of each church is very different, as one would expect, because each church naturally attracts their own people group.

We want to change this. For too long we have remained silent on ‘white church / black church’ topics and conversations. We inherited the segregated churches from our forefathers and unfortunately we passively kept the same model using the excuse ‘It’s always been like this’.

God has created, ordained, and gifted two very unique pastors to make the permanent transition of combining these two very culturally different churches. The common threads are God, our passion for people and families, and our desire to be in the will of God and walking out his plan for our community.

Who knows, maybe one day in the near future we will permanently combine. All hearts and minds will be clear and our faith will be fully in the Lord. Until then we will continue to work out challenges, and address the fear of the unknown. We will focus on preserving the Lord’s plan rather than self-preserving our traditions and preferences.

Ultimately we will pursue the Lord and trust in His plans and details because He is the only one who sees the future. I am very hopeful that even when change is inevitable, I am also being changed in my innermost being… and that is the most exciting part!

❤️ Marie
