A Safe Place To Land

Spiritual friendship has been quite a unique adventure for me. It has aided me in much of my spiritual growth. When I met Ruth it was an instant attraction. I had never met anyone who laughed with their whole body like I had…or was it, that at our initial meeting, the spirit of God leaped within our souls that caused us both to realize this defining moment of our friendship? Either way we were connected in that moment and have been for the last 20 years!

Prior to our meeting and 20 year journey together we both had experienced suffering and pain in previous years. I dabbled with addiction. Whatever aided in my numbing process I embraced it. Then I became pregnant with my oldest daughter. She was a turning point in my life. When I looked in her eyes I could hear the Lord’s voice assuring me there is always hope. It took the next 18 months to remove myself from a co-dependent relationship and soon the Lord would bring Ruth into my life. She, her husband, and 2 boys embraced us and provided a “safe place to land” both emotionally and spiritually. Little did I know the Lord was also moving her to a place (me) who was also a “safe place to land”.
