As I sit today, I hear a bird with a distinct chirp. I am not familiar with this bird nor its song. I wonder what bird this could be and even what causes this bird to sing. Even though I am unfamiliar with it, I am drawn to it. I realize the song is being sung for me.

I realize too that I sing a song that is unfamiliar to most.  The song I sing doesn’t necessarily have words or music (at least not today), but it is a rhythm or a constant that runs deep in my soul. This song wasn’t given by circumstance or by certain people (although those have played a part in the discovery). This song, my song, was discovered. It was uncovered. It was already in me. This song of love, of peace, of joy, of freedom, of hope, and of stillness is a song that many long for, yet never seek.

I also realize that like the bird I heard earlier, my song also draws people in. Like so many others who sang their own song that drew me in, their song helped me discover the song that wanted to be sung in me.

Their song is not my song, nor is my song their song. I am overwhelming(ly) grateful for this discovery. My hope is that you discover your song. I believe this is where heaven and earth overlap.

Shalom!
