And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him…
Matthew 27:28 ESV
He was stripped naked, not by choice or will, but by someone else.
Stripped Naked.
He wasn’t just told to remove his clothing. He was stripped by another by many others. And then he was clothed with a mock robe fit for a king and made fun of. Then, after the fun, he was stripped again and clothed with his own clothing.
Fun? Nah, it’s not fun when the one inflicted with pain is not laughing. It’s not fun when thorns pierce your head while blood runs down your face. It’s not fun to be spit upon, mocked, and hit with a stick.
But to know Jeaus endured this for us, we will never ever know the price he paid, the agony he felt, and the separation he must have experienced.
But we can know his love! We can experience his love. We can share his love!
