Hello friends.
Have you ever wanted your marriage to be a place where connection was more than just a longing?
Well, we have. Kenny and I came to a place in our marriage where we desperately wanted to be understood by the other, and it came at a high cost.
Life. Routine. Work. Extracurricular activities. Church. Ministry. Success. Failure. Denial. Death. Loss. Grief. Family. Friends…all have a way of pulling out the best and worst parts of a relationship. Ours was no different.
Maybe one day, I will share that story, but I wanted to take the time to share a resource that has been life-giving to us both.
Who would have thought that the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises would have been a key factor in helping us reconnect and settle into a place of freedom and openness with each other again?
We did not, but it was a last-ditch effort to do something.
Rachel and Bryan Herh, Founders of Curate Ministries, became a healing place for us both. By the time we began meeting with them, we had no desire to make anything sound or look pretty. They really got the best parts of us!
Needless to say, we are better humans today by doing the hard work, saying hard things, and allowing space and time for God to heal our minds and hearts. We are not the same people we were when we got married. We are so much more.
And we still meet with Rachel and Bryan once a month for Couples Spiritual Direction! It’s much cheaper than a divorce, medical bills, and behavioral medication.
I took the time to say all of that because Rachel and Bryan are offering a 3-month Ignatian Exercises for Couples. If you or someone you know feel you could benefit from something like this, please feel free to reach out at the link above. I highly recommend this ministry, AND Bryan and Rachel!
