some peoples’ transition takes a little longer…

I dreamt of my sister last night. She was wearing her jeans and favorite green T-shirt. The color of green that she could rock, especially with her short hair. Her face was vibrant. She crawled in bed and laid beside me. I was so happy to see her, and then our conversation began:

Me: Shae, what are you doing here?

Shae: I just wanted to see you.

Me: Oh my gosh! I’m so happy to see you.

Shae: I thought you would get a kick out me trying to convert people in heaven.

Me: {confused} Why would you need to convert anyone in heaven? {LOL}

Shae: {LOL} Well, there is no need for conversion, I just realize how deep my religious roots are and how impulsive people can be in trying to convert people and tell them what to do.

Me: Oh. {still confused}

Shae: When people get here, they go through a transition. Not everyone shows up with inner peace, so it takes some people longer to transition into heaven. Heaven is the place of inner peace and rest.

Me: Oh wow, I never thought about a transition into heaven.

Shae: Yeah, everyone’s transition is different. I just wish I would have experienced inner peace before I got here. It’s wonderful!

Wow! “I just wish I would have experienced inner peace before I got here. It’s wonderful!” What words of desire, longing, and wisdom.

I have been on this same quest for inner peace. Striving has been a companion to me for a while and the more I seek inner peace the more fleeting it becomes. Stillness has now become a companion to me. Stillness ushers in rest for my mind, heart, and body. In this rest, inner peace surfaces. I glimpse heaven. I did not find it. It found me. Before I die. Before I depart. Before I transition into heaven. What peace, what rest.

In all reality, no one knows what heaven is like or will be like. We all have our storybook images of what it will be like, who will be there, who will not be there, how to get there…and so on. In all the different interpretation of what heaven will be like, I appreciate the “transition into heaven” image that surfaced in my dream and the thought that some peoples’ transition takes a little longer. What grace!
