This may be the first year I feel pulled between two seasons. Winter is my least favorite season. I love the fireplace, the snow (when we do get it in the south), and the fresh crisp air, but I tend to get restless waiting for spring.
This year, I can actually feel (in my body) that spring is just around the corner. It is calling me. Flowers blooming, grass growing greener, and greener every day, new life that bursts forth throughout creation, yet still, I hear spring telling me to enjoy the last bit of winter while I can.
Yes, spring is coming, and with it brings work and new rhythms. I hear spring say, “Rest just a little bit longer. You need rest. ”
This is true. In whatever new season I arrive at, I throw myself fully into it. It is pivotal. I enter one season and somewhat totally abandon the former. This could be my personality or something different, I do not know. I only know today that spring tells me, “Keep looking for me. I am almost here. Keep receiving from winter. It has much to teach you. When you do both, you will be prepared and content. Yes, there will be work, much work, but you will be ready. You have the ability to carry the rhythm of each season in you even as the seasons change. Wait for me while you enjoy the place of rest you are in.”
Winter.Spring.Summer.Fall (Repeat)
Rest.Work.Play.Let Go (Repeat)
This is Sabbath!
